AustStab wishes to advise of the following actions being taken as a consequence of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the associated restrictions on movement and gatherings being implemented across Australia.
Australian Pavement Recycling and Stabilisation Conference
This year’s Australian Pavement Recycling and Stabilisation Conference, which was scheduled to take place on 29th July 2020, has been cancelled. Cancellation of the 2020 conference means that other associated activities will also be cancelled, including the golf competition and informal dinner scheduled for Tuesday 28th July and the AustStab Gala Dinner and Awards Night scheduled for Wednesday 29th July. This means that no AustStab Awards of Excellence will be awarded for 2020 and consequently Award nominations are now closed, as is the conference Call for Papers. AustStab thanks those who have submitted conference abstracts and awards nominations and will be in touch to discuss the possibility of their resubmission in 2021.
AustStab Annual General Meeting
The AustStab Annual General Meeting, which was scheduled to take place on the 30th July 2020, will be postponed until an appropriate later date can be identified.
Stabilisation Fundamentals training courses conducted by the Centre for Pavement Engineering Education (CPEE)
CPEE have advised that upcoming face-to-face short courses have been postponed until further notice. CPEE will reschedule these courses to later in the year to dates that will be determined in accordance with the changing situation and Government advice. Existing course registrations will be automatically transferred to the rescheduled course (or an alternative course). Alternatively, a full refund will be provided by CPEE if the new dates do not suit – please contact CPEE directly for further advice. This means that the Stabilisation Fundamentals courses scheduled for Parramatta on Thursday 26th March, Ipswich on Tuesday 31st March and Melbourne on Thursday 16th April 2020 have been postponed to a date to be advised and it is highly likely that further courses will be rescheduled.
AustStab/ARRB Accreditation Scheme
Contracting companies that are accredited to the AustStab/ARRB Accreditation Scheme and have an upcoming expiry date will have their certification automatically rolled forward by 6 months. All affected accreditations will be regularly reviewed and extended where necessary. AustStab will schedule recertification audits to dates that will be determined in accordance with the changing situation and Government advice.
A variety of AustStab publications, including the popular Pavement Recycling and Stabilisation Guide (2015 2nd Edition), remain available to download or purchase from the AustStab website, along with other resources including technical papers.
